The everything.

Avensole winery is β€œthe everything,” a winery can be. As soon as you arrive you know you are someplace special. The tasting room and outdoor tasting patio are beautiful, airy, and welcoming. The members only building and patio is equally delightful, fresh, and inviting. They have two boutique areas for your shopping pleasure. And, there is a full service bar, and restaurant with an eclectic seasonal menu.

Things I learned at this winery:

Some reds can and should be served chilled.

You can have a mixture of old Zin vines and newer ones too. Blends of old and new produce interesting characteristics.

Not all grapevines are grafted. Some of them are grown from a cutting or bud.

UC Davis has cultivated vine cuttings which date back to 1890.

Grafting and budding are horticultural techniques used to join parts from two or more plants so that they appear to grow as a single plant. In grafting, the upper part (scion) of one plant grows on the root system (rootstock) of another plant. In the budding process, a bud is taken from one plant and grown on another.
