Off the chart views for miles.

Miramonte translates to “see from the top of the mountain.” And what a sight, the view from Miramonte is — truly one of the best in all of Temecula. They serve a dry Verdelho, a grape from Madeira, Portugal. Our tour and tasting guide refers to it as “Hawaii in a bottle.” Miramonte is the only winery open every Friday and Saturday night until 10pm. You can order personalized etched wine bottles through the winery. Their Flower Hill Bistro is open 7 days a week.

Things I learned at this winery:

A sommelier is trained not only in wine, but also beer, sake, and spirits.

The longer tannins are in contact with the skin, the bolder the color of the wine.

A wine can be referred to as bone dry or off dry which refers to points in residual sugar. After bone and off dry, is semi sweet.

Some French oak barrels can cost as much as $5000.

When pairing wine with food you should sip, eat, repeat.

Temperature is a factor in the quality of your wine legs. Wine legs aren’t an indication of quality of wine. They can tell you key information about the alcohol level in wine.
